there should be a whole genre of sloppish AI videos for Talking Heads’ “Television man” 🎵And everything is real / Do I like the WAYYY I feel. 🎵
if Harris had won, would AI build out be as central to our economy as it now is?
With most of our Big Politics conversations among nonfascists, it’s not so much which faction is right or wrong, it’s that whoever is right or wrong the question we are addressing is irrelevant, simply does not rise to the scale of the problems they purport to address.
This is excellent, by @leedrutman.bsky.social. (i think the piece suggests fusion voting would not do enough more than that it’s a particularly hopeful way forward. but the analysis of where we are, and how futile much of our factionalizing is, has never been presented more clearly.)

is there anything in the modern world like the yellow pages, where i might ignore the ads and just get an exhaustive list of all the businesses of a certain type in a geographic area?
one of my most illiberal views is that every form of ad personalization and targeting (beyond the targeting implicit in advertisers’ choice of context) should be straight up banned.

concentrating our forces off Venezuela and Nigeria will ensure our critical national security interests are protected.
there's no particular we. the idea is that organizations in the fray necessarily know what's going down. they interact directly, it's what they need to act on. 1/
people not in the fray, normies, hobbyists, can treat it all as entertainment, and fiction is more engaging than reality. 2/
if we have a world where most people interact, ideally in direct, IRL, human settings, with people in the fray — and importantly vice versa, so leaderships are held constantly to account… 3/
then there are trusted sources of truth, resources to debunk or confirm what people think they know from infotainment. 4/
