sure, but politics reshapes people. it does not “meet them where they are”. almost none of them started anywhere near this current version of Trump.

“Slotkin—like so many in her party lately—failed to convey any sense of real urgency or alarm. Her speech could have been given in Trump’s first term, perhaps in 2017 or 2018, but we are no longer in that moment.”

these proud real Americans are busy undermining core defense capabilities in other spheres (i mean, the air force doesn’t need weather forecasts, right?), so why not compromise military communications to fire-spectrum to friendly oligarchs?

fascists are learning that women are unreliable appointees to the Supreme Court even if they have an impeccable pedigree from a Federalist Society whose core intent is to prevent deprogramming. hls.harvard.edu/bibliography...

it is. but there’s only so much to be gained by being widely read next to confirmed alien sightings in Weekly World News, besides the ill done by providing some of the very best work betwixt which the vile propaganda the site’s owner means to spread is laundered.

“popularists” describe the median voter as a kind of idiot whose prejudices must be catered to. real voters are not that, are capable of detecting the condescension in the strategy, and flee those motherfuckers every chance they can.

“economists” falsely presume a quantitative resource constraint rather than undesirable patterns of deployment and remuneration. under poor deployment and inequitable remuneration, greater public share can be welfare increasing, even when much must be spent on unconsumable war preparedness.

do the tariffs in their current form survive the morrow?

maybe i'm not a real American or something, but it frustrates me that Slotkin is not talking about all the criming and destruction the administration is wreaking—taking Congressionally prescribed agencies to the wood chipper, withdrawing food and life-saving care from people with no notice, deaths.

the point of fentanyl as a pretext is it has nothing at all to do with the tariffs so there's complete liberty in slapping them on or off, making them stronger or weaker, as a response to actions that may be invented or merely symbolic.
