it does. but say the expected cost of missing a flight is $500, and shaving 30 mins of lead time means you miss one out of ten. You are then paying $100 per hour for whatever it is you do rather than leave a bit early. 1/

you have to make a lot of money, or be quite wealthy, for that to be a good deal in general. 2/

that’s not to say there aren’t specific cases where it’s a good deal. maybe you’re in a really productive (or seductive!) meeting. the extra half hour could be worth $50 even for someone of very modest means. 3/
